(MINEOLA, NY) – Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D-Glen Cove) was proud to honor Lynette Batts for her outstanding work as Executive Director of Littig House Community Center during a presentation recognizing February as African American History Month at the Nassau County Legislature in Mineola on Monday, February 24, 2014.

Lynette Batts has been the Executive Director of Littig House Community Center, located in Port Washington, since 1997. With over 20 years of extensive work in community building, educational advocacy, and youth development, Lynette feels fortunate to develop and disseminate innovative programs and resources to benefit the lives of young children and their families.

Batts’ desire to bring more hands-on programming to the community inspired her to form the Port Washington Community Partnership, a network of youth and family, cultural, health and educational institutions with a common purpose to promote safe and healthy choices by providing preventive and supportive services.

A community-minded individual, Batts serves as Vice President of the Coalition of Nassau County Youth Services and a member of Community Voice for Youth and Families advocating for a fully funded, responsive system of neighborhood-based resources which will serve the growing emotional, academic and social challenges that face the children and families of Nassau County.

Batts is also a proud recipient of United Way David S. Schector Memorial Award, which honors an Executive Director of a youth-service agency who has exhibited exceptional action to strengthen human care services or human relationship, as well as demonstrating professional leadership.
