(PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) proudly attended the Port Washington Fire Department’s 135th annual Installation and Inspection Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 2. During the celebration, she presented former Captain Joseph Santoli, a lifelong Port Washington resident, with a Nassau County Legislature Citation in recognition of an outstanding 75 years of volunteer service with the Department.
“A remarkable spirit of volunteerism has sustained the Port Washington Fire Department for more than 135 years. Joseph Santoli, who is one of just a handful of people to reach 75 years of service in the history of the Atlantic Hook & Ladder Company, beautifully embodies that solemn commitment,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “Honoring him was a truly humbling experience, and it is always a pleasure to celebrate all that the Port Washington Fire District continues to do for our community.”
