(GLEN COVE and PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.) - Equip yourself with the knowledge that may one day empower you to save a person’s life by joining Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) at an upcoming community Narcan training event.
During sessions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Glen Cove High School and Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Port Washington Public Library, participants will be provided Narcan kits and learn how to spot the signs of an opiate overdose, be shown how to administer intranasal Naloxone to reverse an overdose, and learn about new approaches to treating addiction. The sessions are being presented in partnership with the Office of the County Executive and Nassau County’s Department of Human Services.
“Narcan is a proven tool for reversing overdoses, and amidst the ongoing opioid drug crisis that continues to grip Nassau County and our region, it is more critical than ever for all of us to be prepared to respond to an emergency,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I encourage everyone to join us at one of these upcoming workshops to learn how to use a life-saving tool that can give a person a second chance at life and put them on a path to long term recovery.”
Pre-registration is required. To reserve your spot and request more information, please contact Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton’s office at 516-571-6211 or dderiggiwhitton@nassaucountyny.gov.
