Former Legislator, N. Hempstead Town Clerk Wayne H. Wink, Jr. Joins Democratic Caucus Team

(MINEOLA, N.Y.) – A former Nassau County Legislator is back at work in the Theodore Roosevelt Executive & Legislative Building as an advocate for the residents of Nassau County.

Wayne H. Wink, Jr., of Roslyn, who previously represented the Legislature’s 11th District from 2007 to 2013, was named to the Minority Caucus legal team by Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) on March 1.

“Wayne Wink is an outstanding attorney who brings extensive legal experience and a wealth of institutional knowledge to this new role,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I have every confidence that his skills and insights will be an invaluable resource to the members of the Minority Caucus as they continue to advocate for the residents and taxpayers of Nassau County.”

In addition to his previous Legislative service, Wink served as a North Hempstead Town Councilman from 2002 to 2007 and North Hempstead Town Clerk from 2014 to 2021.

“Throughout my life, I have been fueled by a deep love for public service and a keen interest in confronting the issues facing the residents of Nassau County,” Wink said. “As the old song goes, ‘everything old is new again’ - and we are again facing many of the issues I dealt with as a Legislator. I am tremendously gratified that Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton and the caucus have given me this opportunity to apply my experience toward advocating for the future of our County and the taxpayers we serve.”

Prior to becoming an elected official, Wink was a legislative aide and chief of staff to former Nassau County Legislator Barbara Johnson and counsel to the Democratic legislative caucus.

Wayne and his wife, Stacey, are the parents of daughter Jenny. Together, they share a canine companion in their family’s nearly 13-year-old Maltese, Snowball. In his spare time, Wayne is a frequent Sudoku player, an American history buff, and a hardcore (albeit frequently disappointed) Mets, Rangers, and Jets fan.
