[ARCHIVED] Diabetes Research Institute Receives $10,000 Donation

DeRiggi-Whitton - DRI Donation 06272023

(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) and Rebecca Castronovo, cochairs of the annual “Cooking for a Cure” fundraiser, welcomed Keith Way to The View Grill in Glen Cove on Tuesday, June 27. There, he presented $10,000 donation to the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) Foundation in memory of his wife Jennifer, who recently passed away following a lengthy battle with cancer.

“This tremendously generous donation will go a long way toward supporting the Diabetes Research Institute in its pursuit of a cure,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “We are grateful for this contribution and honored that he would choose to celebrate his loving wife’s legacy with such a meaningful gesture.”

Jennifer’s life was celebrated as part of the recent “Cooking for a Cure” fundraiser, an annual event which raises funds for DRI.

“I’ve known Rebecca and Delia for a long time, and that made it very special that their families were all there,” Mr. Way said. “We had a nice conversation about Jennifer and remembering how giving and sweet she was. I have a huge amount of respect for Delia and Rebecca and everybody for what they do for this cause, and it means an awful lot to me for them to recognize Jennifer in this way.”
