[ARCHIVED] DeRiggi-Whitton Supports ‘Glen Cove Salutes’ Military Tribute Banner Program at Morgan Memorial Park

DeRiggi-Whitton - Glen Cove Honors 2022

(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) thanked Glen Cove Public Library archivist/librarian J. Lydia Wen and Glen Cove Department of Public Works CSEA President Ralph Comentino in Morgan Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 3 for their efforts on the annual “Glen Cove Salutes” military tribute banner program.

Thanks to the generous support of community sponsors, the Glen Cove Library creates the patriotic banners and displays them in Morgan Memorial Park. Each banner features a local veteran and spotlights the commendations that they earned. Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton contributed toward the purchase of flag holders for this project.

“These photos are situated in such an idyllic and peaceful place for paying our respects to the residents of Glen Cove who dedicated their lives to protecting our nation at home and abroad,” Tony Jimenez, Director of the City of Glen Cove’s Office of Veterans Affairs, said. “Thank you to all of the community organizations, including the American Legion, the Rotary Club, Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton’s office, and so many others who worked with the Glen Cove Library to make this wonderful tribute to Glen Cove’s veterans possible.”

“Glen Cove’s steadfast commitment to the men and women of our armed forces is steadfast and shines through on each of these beautiful banners,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I encourage you to visit Morgan Memorial Park to see this impressive tribute and learn more about some of our hometown heroes.”
