(OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) joined Wazma Wardak Hassan of the not-for-profit Afghan Americans of New York on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at a food distribution event in support of Old Bethpage’s Family Residences and Essential Enterprises (FREE).
Founded in 1977, FREE supports more than 4,000 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, mental illness and traumatic brain injury by providing services including: housing; recovery services; transition to work; employment; day, community and family services; respite; crisis services; education and after school support; specialty health services; and advocacy.
“COVID-19 continues to place a tremendous burden upon every aspect of our society, and marginalized communities remain among the most profoundly impacted,” Legislator Drucker said. “I applaud Wazma Wardak Hassan and the Afghan Americans of New York for their tireless efforts to give back to the community, and salute FREE for their more than four decades of serving some of Nassau County’s most vulnerable residents.”
