WHAT: Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) is partnering with Legislator Josh Lafazan (Woodbury), the Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce, the Islamic Center of Long Island, Maffucci Moving & Storage and Bekins Van Lines to host a food drive in support of Island Harvest at the Country Pointe ShopRite in Plainview on Saturday, May 9.
“Food insecurity has emerged as of the most pressing issues facing our region during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Island Harvest continues to serve as a critical resource for countless Nassau County residents,” Legislator Drucker said. “Your support will allow Island Harvest to reach more families and provide essential assistance at a time when the need is especially great.”
Participants in Legislator Drucker’s virtual internship program are assisting with organizing, promoting, and operating the drive. The spring/summer internship program includes approximately 20 high school students from the Plainview-Old Bethpage, Syosset, Hicksville and Herricks school districts and focuses on providing first-hand exposure to constituent service, the operations of local government, and community service.
