(HICKSVILLE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) joined the United Celebrations Committee at Antun’s by Minar in Hicksville on Sunday, Jan. 26 to commemorate India’s 71st Republic Day. This national Indian holiday marks the date on which the Indian Constitution became the governing document of the newly formed republic. It also coincides with the date of the 1929 Declaration of Independence from British rule by the Indian National Congress.
During the celebration, Legislator Drucker presented a Nassau County Citation to committee chair Bobby Kumar Kalotee and the event’s co-chairs in recognition of their efforts to organize this important annual observance. “Cultural and entrepreneurial contributions made by Indian-Americans form an essential thread in Hicksville and Nassau County’s beautiful cultural tapestry,” Legislator Drucker said. “I thank everyone who contributed their time and labor to making this event something we can all be proud of.”
