During the scholarship luncheon, which was organized by Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration Committee of Nassau County, four individuals were highlighted for their outstanding contributions to the community.

Elliott, Pastor of Antioch Baptist Cathedral in Hempstead; and A. Brian Leander, Ph.D., of Adelphi University.

“Through lifetimes of selfless service, these impressive community leaders have exemplified the values Dr. King embodied in his own advocacy,” Legislator Drucker said. “I am proud to celebrate their achievements and deeply grateful for their contributions to creating a fairer, more just Nassau County in which diversity is celebrated, embraced and cherished.”
