(JERICHO, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) and Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury) presented citations to Bronze award recipients from Girl Scouts Troop 3449 during the Tuesday, June 18 meeting of the Jericho School Board.
The Bronze award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve and is generally connected to a community service project that requires at least 20 volunteer hours in their community to complete. The purpose of this award is to teach young girls how to work together to make a difference and impart valuable leadership and planning skills that will serve them well in future endeavors.
“The Girl Scouts continue to provide a valuable service by teaching our young people essential skills and developing a passion for civic engagement,” Legislator Drucker. “I hope these young girls continue to inspire their communities and work together to continue to make a difference”.
“Scouting organizations across the nation continue to teach our next generation about the importance of serving their communities and working hard for a common goal,” Legislator Lafazan said “I am honored to recognize these girls and their passion for giving back.”
