WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) encourages residents to sign up for the upcoming New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps workshop at the Shaw Avenue Elementary School, which is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 14. The workshop is being presented in partnership with New York State Assemblymember Michaelle Solages.
The workshops are designed to equip residents with the tools and resources to prepare for any type of natural or man-made disaster, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Each family participating will receive a free Citizen Preparedness Corps Response Starter Kit filled with emergency prep essentials like a radio, flashlight, batteries, freshwater packets, food packs, heavy-duty gloves, tarp, emergency blanket, water container, glow stick and whistle.
“As a father and a public servant, I know how critically important it is to prepare for emergencies and ensure that our entire community has the knowledge and resources to respond to the unexpected,” Legislator Solages said. “New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps workshops are tremendously helpful tools that give us all peace of mind, and I am proud to be partnering with Assemblymember Solages to bring this important workshop to Valley Stream.”
