(MINEOLA and ELMONT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) welcomed Elmont’s 2-year-old math prodigy and youngest-ever “America’s Got Talent” contestant Devan Defreitas and his family to the Nassau County Legislature for a special presentation on Monday, Aug. 5.
Prior to embarking upon the day’s legislative calendar, Legislator Solages highlighted Devan’s numerical prowess – first seen on TikTok as viral sensation “Baby Dev” – for the audience. Devan also treated the packed house to his singing skills as well, joining his father for a few bars of “You Are My Sunshine” while cradled in his arms. Following the impressive display, Legislator Solages presented Devan and his family with a Nassau County Legislature Citation.
“It is always important to take time to recognize the accomplishments of our youth and thank their families for all they do to prepare them for success,” Legislator Solages said. “Perhaps Devan might not be able to comprehend this proclamation right now, but I hope that, in a few years, he will look back and know that his community is so proud of what he has already achieved. His remarkable performance was inspirational for the whole world to see, and it gives me great pride that I represent him and his family in the Legislature.”
