(VALLEY STREAM, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) joined Nassau County Police Department Commissioner Patrick Ryder at the Shaw Avenue Elementary School on Tuesday, Oct. 1 to celebrate the Department’s “Operation Give Back” toy drive. During this event, NCPD officials and officers distributed more than 1,500 toys to 750 children from Valley Stream School District 30. Various units from the NCPD including BSO, Motorcycles, K-9, Mounted Unit and Community Affairs were on hand to meet students, answer their questions and learn more about the Nassau County Police Department.
“It is so important to foster positive interactions between young people and the law enforcement professionals who serve and protect our community, and events like ‘Operation Give Back’ are instrumental for building rapport and trust,” Legislator Solages said. “I am thankful to Commissioner Ryder and the Department for their generosity and taking the time to meet with Valley Stream’s young students – the future leaders of our community.”
