(VALLEY STREAM, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) partnered with the Nassau County Department of Assessment to bring the Homeowner Exemption Liaison Program (HELP) to Valley Stream’s Gateway Christian Center on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
During the event, Department of Assessment staff provided homeowners with individual assistance with filing for veteran, senior citizen, Cold War veteran, volunteer firefighter and ambulance worker, and limited-income disability exemptions. Enhanced STAR applications were also processed for homeowners already enrolled in the STAR program prior to Jan. 2, 2015.
“The HELP program is a user-friendly way of ensuring that Nassau homeowners are receiving every tax benefit that they have earned,” Legislator Solages said. “I thank the experts at the Department of Assessment for working with my office to deliver individualized, one-on-one assistance that puts money back into the pockets of my constituents and their families.”
For anyone who missed the Valley Stream event and still requires assistance, there is an upcoming workshop at the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library, located at 1125 Broadway in Hewlett, from 1 – 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
