(ELMONT, N.Y.) - In observance of April 22 as Earth Day, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) and a dozen local volunteers joined him on Saturday, April 20 for a community cleanup in Elmont. With a focus on the underpass at Linden Boulevard and Central Avenue in Elmont, volunteers cleared litter and other debris to give the community some much-deserved environmental TLC.
“We all have a duty to protect the planet and keep our neighborhood clean. This is even more important in Elmont, which is the gateway to Nassau County,” Legislator Solages said. “I am so grateful to everyone who commemorated Earth Day by rolling up their sleeves and making a positive impact in our community. Let’s keep the lessons of Earth Day close to mind all year long as we work collaboratively toward a more prosperous and sustainable future.”
