(MINEOLA, N.Y.) – The following is a statement from Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream), ranking member of the Legislature’s Minority Affairs committee:
“Working alongside his dearly departed wife Joysetta, Julius Pearse and his family led and sustained Nassau County’s beautiful African American Museum for decades. In doing so, they made it a beacon of historic and cultural education in our region, and they reinforced the universal truth that Black history is American history,” Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream), ranking member of the Legislature’s Minority Affairs committee, said. “Mr. Pearse enriched of our lives and expanded our horizons through his service, and his endeavors invited us all to share in his passion for history and self-discovery. While we are tremendously saddened by his passing, his spirit and his passion will live on for eternity in the museum that bears his family’s name.”
