(FRANKLIN SQUARE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) joined Meera Empowerment at VFW Post 2718 in Franklin Square on Saturday, July 27 for the organization’s fourth annual fashion show. Hosted by Elmont native Serene Ferdinand – who founded the not-for-profit organization when she was just 10 years old – the showcase of formal wear and cultural clothing raised funds for local charitable endeavors. Legislator Solages, who is a sponsor of the event, presented Nassau County Legislature Citations to Ferdinand and all of the models in the show in recognition of their philanthropic efforts.
“This community event is getting bigger and better each and every year, and it is wonderful to know that Meera Empowerment’s positive impact upon local charities grows alongside the success of the fashion show,” Legislator Solages said. “I am proud to be a sponsor of this event and I thank Serene and all of the young leaders for stepping up to make a difference.”
