WHAT: Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) is partnering with the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct, the Green Acres Mall, and an array of community partners to celebrate National Night Out in the mall’s parking lot from 6 – 9 p.m. in Valley Stream on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
For more than four decades, National Night Out events have been held in thousands of communities on the first Tuesday in August as a crime prevention and awareness initiative that seeks to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” National Night Out enhances relationships between law enforcement and communities by bringing them together with residents in a safe, fun, and welcoming atmosphere.
Scheduled attractions include police motorcycles and horses; burgers and hot dogs cooked and provided by Applebee’s, and snacks and activities from 7-Eleven.
“National Night Out events are instrumental in building authentic, collaborative relationships between the public and law enforcement professionals, and the bonds we strengthen today will empower our communities to work together in the pursuit of safer, more vibrant neighborhoods for all Nassau County residents,” Legislator Solages said. “I encourage everyone to join us at the Green Acres Mall for what promises to be a great night of family fun and camaraderie.”
