(PLAINVEW, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) joined with Plainview Hospital Northwell Health officials and medical staff at the Hospital’s new state-of-the art cardiac catheterization laboratory on Thursday, July 6 for a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The “cardiac cath lab” will enable doctors and hospital staff to swiftly treat cardiovascular emergencies, such as heart attacks, right at Plainview Hospital. By delivering rapid treatment in the critical moments after diagnosis, lasting damage to the heart can be mitigated and avoided. Previously, patients who are suffering from these cardiac emergencies had to be transferred to “heart specializing hospitals” for treatment.
During the ceremony, Legislator Drucker presented a Nassau County Legislative citation to Michael Dowling, CEO Northwell Health and Michael Fener, Executive Director of Plainview and Syosset Hospitals.
“Plainview Hospital’s ‘cath lab’ is the latest shining example of Northwell Health’s commitment to serving our community,” Legislator Drucker said. “As a lifelong Plainview resident, it is especially gratifying to witness the grand opening of this facility, which is a great representation of how far healthcare has advanced. I applaud Northwell for making this crucial, lifesaving investment in our community.”
