(PLAINVIEW, N.Y.) – After members of the so-called “Goyim Defense League” stuffed virulently antisemitic fliers into mailboxes throughout Plainview, Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) denounced this hateful act and is calling for the public’s help to identify the perpetrators and hold them accountable.
Upon opening their mailboxes, Plainview families discovered the “Every single aspect of gun control is Jewish” fliers, which feature eight images of federal lawmakers with the Star of David drawn upon their heads. The link and QR code on the flier connect to a site filled with a litany of racist, antisemitic, and anti-LGBTQ+ fliers.
Legislator Drucker is urging residents who received the fliers to check footage from their security and doorbell cameras and to immediately contact law enforcement with any information and footage that could help bring the perpetrators to justice.
“As a lifelong resident of the Plainview community, a proud Jew, and an American, I am sickened and infuriated by this brazen attempt to spread the poison of antisemitism in our community – and I refuse to let these cowards prevail,” Legislator Drucker said. “Now is the time to stand together not only to denounce and confront hatred, but to act boldly and eradicate it wherever it lurks. If you have footage on your home doorbell cameras or any other information that could help solve this case, I urge you to immediately contact the Nassau County Police Department so that we can hold these people accountable and restore Plainview residents’ peace of mind.”
Tips can be reported to the Nassau County Police Department’s Sixth Precinct at 516-573-6600 or confidentially to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477).
This is not the first time the Goyim Defense League’s brand of hatred has reared its ugly head in Nassau. Last July, after similarly hateful fliers were distributed to households in the communities of Rockville Centre and Oceanside and left on the windshields of cars parked in Long Beach Legislator Drucker urged the Nassau County Task Force to Combat Antisemitism to investigate the activities of the “Goyim Defense League” in Nassau County. Legislator Drucker was the lead sponsor of legislation during the summer of 2021 that created the Task Force.
The Antidefamation League describes the entity as a “loose network of individuals connected by their virulent antisemitism. The group includes five or six primary organizers/public figures, dozens of supporters and thousands of online followers.” They continue to note that the Goyim Defense League “espouses vitriolic antisemitism and white supremacist themes via the internet, through propaganda distributions and in street actions.”
Elsewhere in the nation, the Goyim Defense League has claimed responsibility for waving the Nazi and SS flags outside the Turning Point USA political summit in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, July 23. According to the ADL, their “most zealous and visible actors are in California, Colorado, Florida and New York.”
