(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) joined the Afghan Americans of New York and his colleagues in government at Sami’s Kabab House in Glen Cove on Sunday, April 24 for the organization’s second annual Iftar dinner. Iftar is a religious observance throughout the month of Ramadan that is often taken as a community. The meal breaks the day’s sunrise-to-sunset fast and is eaten shortly after the call to the Maghrib evening prayer.
“Nassau County’s cultural tapestry is strengthened and enriched when we come together to celebrate our diverse customs and traditions,” Legislator Drucker said. “I am grateful to Afghan Americans of America Founder and CEO Wazma Wardak Hassan and her team for inviting me to take part in such a wonderful and uplifting celebration during Islam’s holiest month.”
