(OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) met some of his district’s youngest residents during Old Bethpage Elementary School's annual Pick-A-Reading Partner (PARP) virtual story time on Wednesday, February 24, where he had the privilege of reading to a class of excited fourth graders.
In honor of Black History Month, Legislator Drucker read “Kamala Harris: Rooted in Justice" by Nikki Grimes. The book tells in illustrated form the story of a “young daughter of immigrants who would grow up to be the first woman, first Black person, and first South Asian American ever elected Vice President of the United States”.
“I was grateful for the opportunity to share the story of Vice President Kamala Harris with this enthusiastic group of young readers, and I hope her story inspires them all to dream big,” Legislator Drucker said. “I thank Old Bethpage Elementary School for inviting me to once again participate in the PARP program and applaud their efforts to continue a tradition that I know the entire community cherishes and looks forward to each year.”
