Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) spoke to the students at HANC (Hebrew Academy of Nassau County, located in Plainview) about elections and being an elected official. Every Election Day, HANC holds its own student elections and each candidate presents their platform and a little bio about themselves. Also in attendance was Plainview Water Commissioner Andrew Bader. Jacobs said, “Principal Rabbi Kalman Fogel and Student Council Advisor Karen Fleishman spoke at the event also to explain the procedures. It is a wonderful way to explain the election process to the young students and, in turn, totally enjoyable to hear the “candidates” present themselves to the Assembly.”
