(ELMONT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Lawrence) celebrated the rich cultural diversity of the Elmont community during the Perfection Dance Center’s annual Kiddie Cultural Fete parade on Saturday, July 1.
During the procession, young dancers and their instructors, many dressed in elaborate costumes covered with sequins and feathers, danced and paraded through the streets of Elmont, an event that occurred one day after the culmination of June as Caribbean Heritage Month. The parade kicked off a daylong celebration featuring food trucks, giveaways, music and more.
“I am always proud to join with the leaders of Perfection Dance Center and their talented young performers for a joyous and uplifting occasion that celebrates our heritage and recognizes the many contributions that our vibrant community makes toward the enrichment of our society,” Legislator Solages said. “Thank you to the Town of Hempstead for responding to our advocacy to repave the roads in and around the parade route, and to our partners in law enforcement at the Nassau County Police Department and Nassau County Auxiliary Police for keeping everyone safe during this great event.”
