(NEW YORK, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D - Lawrence) attended the inaugural ceremonies for the Haitian American Law Enforcement Fraternal Organization (HALEFO) on Sunday, June 12. NYPD Detective Claude Jean-Pierre for a three-year term at the helm of the fraternal organization for Haitian American law enforcement professionals.
HALEFO, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, has approximately 350 members across the disciplines of the NYPD.
“As the son of a Haitian immigrant who served as an NYPD officer, the importance of HALEFO’s commitment to community service and meeting the needs of its members resonates deeply with me,” Legislator Solages said. “It was a pleasure to see Detective Jean-Pierre take the oath of office, and I thank outgoing President, Captain Claude Celestin, for leading the organization through tremendously challenging times amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.”
