(ELMONT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) marched alongside his colleagues in government, civic leaders and local residents in Elmont American Legion Post 1033’s Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 27. “It is always heartwarming to see the community come together to honor our fallen heroes and ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten,” Legislator Solages said. “While Memorial Day is known as the unofficial start of summer and a day filled with barbecues and time at the beach, we must never forget the true and solemn meaning of this holiday - which is to honor all who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the armed forces of the United States of America.”
