Register for Nassau’s Summer Recreation Program
(NASSAU COUNTY, NY) – Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D-L.D. 1) would like to inform residents that registration for Nassau’s 2014 Summer Recreation Program is underway, and the deadline to register is June 1.The program will run from June 30 – Aug. 7.
The Summer Recreation Program operates in four County Parks: Cantiague Park in Hicksville; Eisenhower Park in East Meadow; Nickerson Beach Park in Lido Beach; and Wantagh Park in Wantagh. The program is designed for children ages 5 to 12, separated in the following categories: early childhood (5-6); juniors (7-8); intermediate (9-10); and seniors (11-12).Parents can choose between two sessions for their children: either 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. or 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Fees for the program range from $700 for one child for the shorter session, to $850 for the full-day session, with discounts available for both sessions for additional children from the same family.
There is a $25 registration fee for returning campers (from 2013) who register by March 1, 2014, and a $50 registration fee for new campers (regardless of registration date) and returning campers who apply after March 1, 2014.Registration fees are non-refundable.If all final payments are not received by June 1, 2014, your spot in the program may be lost and the registration fee will not be refunded.
In addition to 45 minutes of open swim time at three of the parks, other activities include: arts and crafts, board and recreational games, Quick Start Tennis, 1st Tee Golf, and sports such as baseball, basketball, flag football, golf, Kan Jam, soccer, tennis, volleyball and Wiffle ball.
