(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) congratulated three local high school graduates on Wednesday, June 19 for their commitment to community service. At a celebration held in their honor at Rockville Centre’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, Legislator Davis presented the young graduates with Nassau County Legislature Citations recognizing their work with the Center and specifically Sharon’s Squad, a teen mentoring group.
“These outstanding graduates are a shining example of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center’s important role in cultivating young leaders and inspiring the pursuit of selfless service in our community,” Legislator Davis said. “I am tremendously proud of what Ife, Zanai and Paris have already accomplished, and I can’t wait to see what their future holds for them!”
Legislator Davis currently serves as Vice President of the RVC Friends of MLK, a not-for-profit organization which is dedicated to supporting and growing youth, adult, senior, and community programming for Rockville Centre’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. Since opening in 1971, the Center has developed a schedule of academic, social, and support programs for youth, teens, adults, seniors, and the greater community.
