(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month by joining the Rockville Centre Lions Club at their fourth annual Amazing Race event on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Inspired by the popular reality TV competition, the village-wide scavenger hunt included a series of clues, challenges and more in pursuit of a cash prize – all leading to a final destination where there was a special reception with raffles and refreshments. A portion of the proceeds were donated to the Rockville Centre Breast Cancer Coalition, which is partnering with Legislator Davis and NUMC to bring the Mammovan to Rockville Centre on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 9.
"Even in the rain, it’s always great fun to compete in Rockville Centre’s Amazing Race, and I am glad to see that this is quickly becoming a cherished tradition that supports our local businesses and promotes such a great cause in our community,” Legislator Davis said. “I applaud RVC Lions Club President Bill Manteria, International Director and LCIF Coordinator Anthony Paradiso, and all of the event’s supporters for making this a great success year after year.”
