(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) joined leaders and supporters of the Rockville Centre Breast Cancer Coalition on Thursday, Oct. 3 as they lit Village Hall pink in honor of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The ceremony came just days before Legislator Davis, the Coalition and NuHealth are teaming up to bring NUMC’s “Mammovan” to Rockville Centre Municipal Lot No. 2 (cross streets of North Village and Randall Avenues) from 8 – 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9 to provide free mammograms and breast exams for eligible women over age 40.
“Raising public awareness of breast cancer is essential for detecting it early and placing women on a path to successful treatment that will help them survive and thrive,” Legislator Davis said. “It is a pleasure to work with the Rockville Centre Breast Cancer Coalition and support their life-saving mission, and I encourage anyone who has not already done so to take full advantage of the Mammovan’s visit to Rockville Centre by making an appointment for an exam today.”
Appointments are required for an examination on the Mammovan. For more information and to make an appointment while availability lasts, contact the office of Legislator Davis at 516-571-6201 or sdavis@nassaucountyny.gov.
