(MELVILLE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) and Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) joined dozens of their colleagues in government and an array of corporate and community leaders in Melville on Friday, Feb. 9 at Island Harvest’s legislative breakfast. During the event, leaders of Island Harvest, including President and CEO Randi Shubin Dresner, outlined the organization’s legislative agenda, addressed the trauma of food insecurity, and discussed hunger’s impact upon the economy and Long Island’s youth, seniors, and community members.
“For families struggling with food insecurity, Island Harvest is an essential conduit for delivering relief, hope, and a bridge to better days ahead,” Legislator Davis said. “I greatly admire their steadfast commitment to service and look forward to working closely with them throughout the year to confront one of the most important issues facing our society.”
“Island Harvest’s commitment to eradicating hunger is so crucial - last year alone, they distributed 17 million pounds of food across Long Island,” Legislator Koslow said. “Our communities are stronger because of their tireless work, and I am proud to stand with them as they continue to pursue their mission of ending food insecurity in Nassau and across our region.”
