Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams and Affinity Health Plan
Present Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
WHAT: Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) and Affinity Health Plan present a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the Roosevelt Firehouse on Friday, Sept. 21.
Community leaders, including Comite Civico Salvadoreno founder Maria Avelar; Comite Civico Salvadoreno member Javier Blanco; Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church member Frank Garcia; Roosevelt High School teacher Gloria Candelaria; Roosevelt High School teacher’s assistant Anna Lilly and Roosevelt Middle School social worker Beverly Torres will be honored for their important contributions to the community.
Keynote speaker Carmen Pineyro will discuss the importance of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations and the diverse beauty of the community’s various cultures and traditions.
Live dance performances by Alianza Latina Dance Group (South American dance), Danza Ritmo Sabor Salvadoreno (Central America) and Jennifer Martinez (Dominican Republic) are scheduled. In addition, an art expo presented by the Fundacion Caricatura New York is also planned. Throughout the event, there will be refreshments and giveaways.
