(Legislator Kevan Abrahams and the Freeport Farmers Market Staff)
(Freeport, N.Y.) – Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) in conjunction with Cedarmore Corporation hosted their 4th annual Health and Wellness Fair at the Freeport Recreation Center on Saturday, Sept. 8th. The Freeport Farmers Market also participated in the health fair, offering residents an opportunity to shop for fresh produce.
Throughout the day, residents were able to connect with dozens of vendors and collect information about different agencies across Nassau County. One of those agencies in attendance was the Nassau County Department of Aging. The Department of Aging provided low-income seniors with a $20 FNMP voucher, to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables at a Farmer’s Market.
During the health fair residents attended workshops that promoted healthy eating, self-care, and physical activity. Residents also received free dental screenings, blood pressure, and HIV testing.
