WHAT - To ensure every student has the essentials they need for a strong start to the 2023-24 school year, Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) and TRIMZ Barber Shop owner Leon Levar Broughton are hosting the 18th annual KUTZ FOR EDU back-to-school giveaway for Legislative District 1 and 5 students on Saturday, Aug. 19.
Backpacks and school supplies will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to play games, win prizes, receive free haircuts from TRIMZ Barber Shop, sneakers from Heeling Soles, and other essentials while supplies last.
The event is presented in partnership with Legislator Debra Mulé (D – Freeport); Heeling Soles, Inc. and Steve Muir; and Glory House Recovery, Inc. and Terenna Williams, with support from sponsors Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Empire BlueCross BlueShield HealthPlus, Affinity by Molina Healthcare, and Freeport Garage Door.
Parents and guardians are asked to remember that children and the adult must be together when receiving haircuts and picking up school supplies, sneakers, and other items.
