(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - On Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, the Nassau County Legislature’s Rules Committee voted 4-3 along party lines to approve a $3,535,000 “on-call labor and employment counsel” contract with special counsel firm, Bee Ready Fishbein Hatter & Donovan LLP. The contract is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2022 and terminates more than 4 ½ years later on June 20, 2027.
Following the vote, Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) issued the following statement:
“It is disturbing that the Republican Majority would force through an overly broad, multimillion-dollar contract that has every appearance of a sweetheart deal for a politically connected vendor,” Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) said. “Today’s actions represent an extremely unwise use of taxpayer dollars and are a recipe for waste and abuse in the future.”
