WHAT – Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) and his Minority Caucus colleagues will discuss legislation they are sponsoring that delivers tax relief for income-eligible Nassau County seniors and homeowners with disabilities - a measure that is expected to come before the Nassau County Legislature for approval at its Wednesday, Sept. 7 session.
Last month, the Minority Caucus introduced legislation that increases the maximum income eligibility level for the Senior Citizens and Persons with Limited Incomes and Disabilities property tax exemptions. The Minority’s proposal was filed after Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law a measure, spearheaded locally by New York State Assemblywomen Michaelle Solages and Judy Griffin, that raised the minimum eligibility cap for these exemptions and gave municipalities like Nassau County the opportunity to opt in.
WHO – Minority Leader Abrahams and his Minority Caucus colleagues are scheduled to be joined by members of Long Island’s New York State delegation who spearheaded passage of this measure and community stakeholders who will benefit from this proposal.
