(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) partnered with the Nassau Alumnae chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and sponsor Affinity by Molina Healthcare to host an Earth Day community cleanup and spruce-up at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Park in Uniondale on Saturday, April 23.
During the event, volunteers planted flowers, cleared trash, and completed other tasks to give the park some much-deserved springtime TLC. In addition, the Nassau County Department of Public Works assisted volunteers and provided the tools and flowers they used to give the Peace Park its new springtime luster.
“Uniondale’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Pack was a wonderful place to celebrate Earth Day and reaffirm our commitment to the mission of protecting our planet and combating climate change for the sake of future generations,” Legislator Abrahams said. “I thank the Nassau Alumnae chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Affinity by Molina Healthcare, Steve, Niala & Annabelle Muir of Heeling Soles, and the Nassau County Department of Public Works for all they did to beautify the Peace Park for the enjoyment of residents this spring.”
