Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams,–with Uniondale Fire District, and Glory House Rec. Inc.– host the 32nd National Night Out Against Crime, Tuesday, Aug. 4th , 2015 from 6-9pm. .at Uniondale Fire House (Van Ness Station) 154 Uniondale Ave. Uniondale NY 11553.. and are inviting other government agencies, local organizations, & businesses to join in by participating.
National Night Out is an annual event held in more than 11,000 communities nationwide to increase awareness of crime, gang activity and violence threatening our neighborhoods.
A few of the most important goals of this year’s National Night out are to generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships; and forge a strong sense of community by establishing partnerships with youths, parents, government and law enforcement agencies to combat these threats – all while having fun!
Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with their local elected officials and police officers, and obtain information regarding many county and village services, businesses, banking and health services, community base organization awareness as well as counseling pertaining to youth-related issues. There will also be music, bouncy houses, prizes, vendors, various games, free food and “Sparky” the robotic fire dog, provided by the Uniondale fire District to entertain the children.
Hundreds of local residents turned out to support the their community last year, and enjoyed a wonderful night out with family and friends. This year is expected to be just as exciting, as Legislator Abrahams hopes to continue the success of National Night Out 2014. Festivities will commence rain or shine.
