WHAT – In observance of September as Hunger Action Month, Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) is hosting a food drive at Key Food in Rockville Center on Sunday, Sept. 29 in support of Sharon’s Pantry at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center of Rockville Centre.
Sharon’s Pantry is named after Sharon Sheppard, the current assistant director of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Rockville Centre, the Pantry is dedicated to helping local residents who face food insecurity and was founded in the spring of 2020 in partnership with the Anti-Racism Project. Sharon’s Pantry is spearheaded by the Project’s co-administrator Rena Riback and supported by local donations and Island Harvest.
“Sharon’s Pantry provides a tremendous service for our community, and there is no better time to support their efforts than September as we observe Hunger Action Month in America,” Legislator Davis said. “Please join us on Sept. 29 as we come together to fight food insecurity in Rockville Centre and across Nassau County.”
