(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) is urging residents of Rockville Centre and the entire First Legislative District to be aware of the true origins of a letter they may have recently received soliciting donations for local firefighters. The fundraising appeal from the Volunteer Firefighter Alliance, Inc. which Rockville Centre residents recently received (pictured above) is not affiliated in any way with the Rockville Centre Fire Department, nor do any proceeds from the drive benefit RCFD volunteers.
“Because of its vague and potentially misleading nature, it is understandable how residents could mistakenly believe that their donation would benefit the brave men and women who volunteer to protect our community as Rockville Centre firefighters,” Legislator Davis said. “Before donating to what looks like a good and honorable cause, I urge everyone to do their due diligence to ensure that their charitable giving achieves its intended benefits in our community.”
