[ARCHIVED] Legislator Solages: Don’t Miss Your Shot to Get COVID-19 Vaccine

SOLAGES - COVID-19 Vaccination

(VALLEY STREAM, N.Y.) - After receiving his first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D - Lawrence) is urging eligible Nassau County residents to join him in rolling up their sleeves once it’s their turn to get their shot.

After becoming eligible earlier this month when New York State revised guidelines to include public-facing government and public employees, Legislator Solages was vaccinated during a Saturday, March 27 pop-up clinic at the Alden Terrace School in Valley Stream. The clinic provided 300 first doses and was hosted by New York State Assembly Member Michaelle Solages in partnership with Masjid Hamza, New York State Senator Todd Kaminsky and Legislator Solages’ office. It was scheduled in accordance with the April 12 start of the holy month of Ramadan in Islam.

“After becoming eligible under New York State guidelines, I was happy to demonstrate that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective by rolling up my sleeve and getting inoculated,” Legislator Solages said. “As vaccine availability continues to steadily increase in Nassau County and eligibility continues to rapidly expand, I urge you to join me in getting vaccinated for to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and the communities we cherish.”

As of Tuesday, March 30, all Nassau County residents 30 and older will be eligible to make a vaccine appointment; all residents ages 16 and older will be eligible starting Tuesday, April 6. Visit https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/5126/COVID-19-Vaccine-Information to review important COVID-19 resources and find for scheduling appointments at County and State-run mass vaccination sites and pharmacies.

Seniors seeking answers to COVID-19 questions and assistance with making appointments can call the County’s COVID-19 hotline at (516) 227-9590 from 9 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. daily. Residents can also contact Legislator Solages’ office at 516-571-6203 with additional questions.
