(ELMONT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D - Lawrence) applauded Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and the Nassau County Police Department Commissioner (NCPD) for committing $25,000 in startup funds to the Elmont Police Activity League (PAL). The funding, which was the focus of a presentation held at police headquarters on Wednesday, Nov. 11, is being drawn from NCPD asset forfeiture dollars.
To maintain adherence with COVID-19 prevention protocols that advise against large in-person gatherings during the pandemic, Legislator Solages attended the ceremony remotely via Zoom.
“For more than 80 years, PAL programming has fostered strong bonds between law enforcement and our communities by enriching the lives of young people across Nassau County,” Legislator Solages said. “This vital investment in our youth was secured through the collective work of our community, and I am grateful to County Executive Curran and Commissioner Ryder for heeding the call of Elmont residents and launching this new branch of the Police Athletic League.”
