(ELMONT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Lawrence) joined with the Jamaica Square Improvement League on Saturday, Aug. 12 to support their annual back-to-school supply and backpack giveaway at Hendrickson Avenue Park.
The event, which was geared toward providing supplies for students starting Kindergarten through sixth grade in the coming weeks, is one of several that Legislator Solages is supporting with the first day of school on the horizon across Nassau County.
On Saturday, Aug. 19, Legislator Solages co-sponsored back-to-school supply giveaway events at the Green Acres Mall and the Gateway Christian Center; he is also co-sponsoring an upcoming event at the Exit 13 Grooming Lounge on the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 27.
“So much of this event’s success is directly attributable to the grace and leadership of Jamaica Square Improvement League President Claudine Hall, whose tireless efforts help us to meet the needs of families and young people in our community,” Legislator Solages said. “We are deeply appreciative of her work and thankful to all of the local business owners and civic leaders who do so much to equip our students to thrive in a new school year.”
