(EAST MEADOW, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Lawrence) congratulated the organizers of the 10th annual Creole-American Family Night at Eisenhower Park. Presented by Haitian Americans United for Progress (HAUP) on Monday, July 3, the concert starring Tabou Combo, a groundbreaking Haitian compas band that has been performing around the world since 1968, drew an estimated crowd of more than 6,000 to the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater.
Following the concert, Legislator Solages presented a Nassau County Legislature Citation to Tabou Combo in recognition of more than 55 years of entertaining music lovers around the world.
“The amazing success of this event is a testament to the beautiful diversity that makes Nassau County such a special place to live and raise a family,” Legislator Solages said. “Thank you and merci to HAUP, Kompa Guide, the Nassau County Police Department, Nassau County Parks Department, and all of the performers and sponsors who made this night so special. Most of all, thank you to Tabou Combo for 55 years of uplifting our culture with your musical talent.”
