WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Lawrence) invites the public to support the premiere of “Ayiti Pap Peri” (“Ayiti Will Not Perish”), a documentary by Elmont-based filmmaker Cassandre Thrasybule.
Starting in 2019, Thrasybule, CEO of the Human Interaction Foundation, chronicles Haitian American professionals who made the decision to return to Ayiti and work for their home country in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake that devastated the nation.
A 7:30 p.m. press preview is set for Thursday, June 22 at Le Spot Café, 333 Elmont Road, Elmont, N.Y. 11003. Legislator Solages, who in 2011 became Nassau’s first Haitian American elected official, is scheduled to participate in a panel discussion at the film’s premiere, which is set for Friday, June 30 at Hofstra University’s Student Center Theater.
