WHAT - In observance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D - Lawrence) is partnering with New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, Nassau Cancer Services Center, Catholic Health and Nassau University Medical Center to host the Dr. Elsy Mecklembourg-Guibert Memorial Breast Cancer Walk/Roll/Run on Saturday, Oct. 29.
Dr. Mecklembourg-Guibert, whose election to the Elmont School Board made her Nassau County’s first Haitian American elected official, passed away on Oct. 3. She was remembered by Legislator Solages and numerous community leaders as an inspiring trailblazer who dedicated her life to helping others and promoting health and cancer awareness through her not-for-profit work and advocacy.
