(LAWRENCE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D - Lawrence) is supporting a petition drive that calls on the County to secure the future of the Five Towns Community Center.
The Five Towns Community Center, which serves approximately 5,000 area families from Elmont to Point Lookout, was founded in 1917. However, the facility’s lease with Nassau County expires in 2024.
“I believe that a long-term extension of this lease should be signed as soon as possible,” Legislator Solages said. “I had several positive meetings with the previous County Executive and representatives of their administration, and they expressed interest in extending the lease. Unfortunately, the lease extension could not be finalized before the term ended. I am hoping that I can work with the current County Executive and his administration to finalize the lease as soon as possible.”
