Legislator Solages: Inwood Park Soccer Pitch Nearly Ready for Springtime Fun
(INWOOD, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D - Lawrence) and his son Gabe visited Inwood Park on Sunday, Feb. 27, where they tested a mini-soccer pitch that was donated by the United States Soccer Foundation. Installation of the turf playing surface is nearing completion. Work began last fall using capital funds secured by Legislator Solages’ office.
“Nestled in the waterfront with picturesque views of the Verrazano Bridge, Inwood Park is a gem in our parks system that shines more brightly with each new investment that Nassau County and our partners make,” Legislator Solages said. “I am confident that everyone who visits Inwood Park this spring will enjoy the new soccer pitch as much as my son and I did.”
In addition to the soccer pitch, recent improvements at Inwood Park include the completion last fall of a “Dream Court” funded through a partnership with Nancy Lieberman Charities, and a $2.5 million overhaul of Inwood Park’s bulkhead and kayak launch using funds Legislator Solages secured through Nassau County’s capital plan. In 2019, the park’s administration building was reconstructed after being badly damaged by fire.
