Statement from Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages Following a
No Vote for Legislation to Restrict Beach Access for Non-Residents
“I understand the importance of taking steps to ensure Nassau County residents have the same opportunities to safely enjoy Nassau County parks and beaches as city residents will to visit Jones Beach, Robert Moses and other state parks on Long Island,” Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) said.
However, the selfish, offensive and inflammatory rhetoric utilized in recent days by some Republican legislators to promote this legislation is completely unacceptable.
Fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration empowers us to conquer the COVID-19 pandemic. Divisive posturing will only add fuel to the forces that undermine our regional recovery efforts.”
